ASSOCIATED STUDENTS OF BUSINESS
Volunteer Opportunities
ASB is always open to any requests for members to volunteer at events around the community. Some of the events that we volunteer for each year are the Roast and Boast held by Northrim Bank and the UAF School of Management, and the Fairbanks Local Business Expo put on by the Interior Entrepreneur Lions Club. We are continuously looking for other opportunities to help out in any way that we can, and if you are looking for volunteers, shoot us an email at asbuaf@gmail.com.
Fundraising
Our organization's main method of raising money to put on our events and manage our club is selling concessions and Hot Licks ice cream at the Fairbanks Concert Association's concerts. We usually have four to five volunteers set up for the event and sell snacks and drinks during the intermission of these concerts. Hot Licks sells ASB a specialty ice cream exclusively for the concert called Raspberry Rhapsody. The fundraising gives us an opportunity to see and interact with the local community as well as gain experience in selling, marketing, inventory, and finance tracking.
Teach Children to Save
Northrim Bank and ASB have teamed up to go to elementary schools and teach the students there about different aspects of money. We teach grades K-6 with fun and interactive programs designed by the American Bankers Association. Our volunteers get to go into classrooms and work with the children to help them learn the value of money and why they should start saving as early as possible. It is a great opportunity to gain teaching experience and to volunteer in the community, passing on knowledge to children.
Annual Food Drive
ASB has recently begun putting on an annual food drive in the month of November. Our student organization competes with other School of Management organizations to see who can collect the most food throughout the month, with ASB sponsored prizes for the winners. All donated food goes to the Wood Center Food Pantry to help out hungry students without the means to buy all their food. We try to make it a fun way to raise food for a good cause, while also interacting and getting to know other SOM students.

In the Community
ASB tries to provide students with many opportunities to go out and interact with the community. Through volunteering for these different events, our members get valuable experience and chances to network outside of the classroom.
